"Radio for me is like an extension of what I have been doing on my live Periscope broadcasts for the last 5 years.  I've always played music as we chat and someone will say 'what is this we're listening to? ' and I'll tell them...... then they'll come back to me a couple of weeks later and say, 'oh I went and checked out so'n'so, I bought that album...'

I've always been incredibly proud of that, someone discovering something they probably wouldn't have heard otherwise.  It makes me happy each and every time it happens..... and it happens A LOT! (I should be on commission really)"

Helen first hit radio airwaves as a guest during former TD1 FM Presenter, Paul Rayner's 32 hour radiothon in March 2019.  Committee members tuning in heard the broadcast and decided to approach Helen to offer her the opportunity to host her own show. 

​

A photographer to trade, Helen hadn't considered presenting on radio until it was mentioned to her, but she is very passionate about music, particularly late 70s/Early 80s post-punk/New Wave pioneering synth bands.  She has broadcast on live streaming app "Periscope" for over 5 years and performed her own Edinburgh Fringe show incorporating that platform.

Helen joined the TD1 FM team in October 2019 and hosted "Helen's Mixtape" fortnightly on a Friday 7pm-10pm UK time.

The Covid lockdown in March 2020 saw the TD1 studio close and broadcasters had to learn the new skill of pre-recording shows at home.

During this lockdown phase, June 2020 saw a switch from TD1 FM radio based in Galashiels in the Scottish Borders, to Vault Radio based in Helen's home town of Edinburgh.   

Helen's Mixtape switched to a weekly timeslot on Vault Radio, Thursdays 8pm-10pm UK time.

August 2021 saw Helen join 365 Radio, placing her on the schedule alongside fellow presenters and broadcasting legends such as Mike Read, Emperor Rosko, Peter Anthony and Bob Ballard amongst others.

Helen's Mixtape is broadcast on 365 Radio.co every Thursday 9pm-11pm UK time.

Since joining Vault Radio, and subsequently 365 Radio, and posting shows to listen back to on her own mixcloud, Helen's Mixtape has been consistently top 40 in the mixcloud Global Electro chart.  Helen would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who tunes in or listens back and hopes you discover something new!

Helen very much hopes to return to live radio presenting soon and hopes this will be a possibility in the near future.
