Helen started photography as a hobby in her late teens, after investing in a 35mm Canon EOS 300 with kit lenses.
She photographed gigs that she attended as a fan and when her work was noticed by one of the bands she had photographed, she was approached to use some of her images on a website.
Thanks to word of mouth, she continued to work for bands (as well as other performers and comedians) nationally and further afield.

A huge turning point came when, after the birth of her second child, she was faced with the decision of whether or not to return to her full time job. A musician friend, whom she had worked for, had a conversation which convinced her that she was more than capable of doing the photography full time.
Wallace Artworks was officially born in 2008 and 2010 saw the studio open in Edinburgh's Gilmore Place. This led to an expansion of more portraiture, boudoir and wedding work.
3.5 years later, personal circumstances (marriage break-up) saw the closure of the studio and Helen has continued to run the business from home ever since. A new studio space has always been on the agenda and Helen hopes to find the right premises at some point in the near future.
